Emily Fogleman: Educator, Stroke Survivor, Unyielding Optimist**
Hi, I’m Emily Fogleman—a wife, mother, teacher, and stroke survivor. At 33, my life took an unexpected turn when an ischemic stroke left me paralyzed, voiceless, and fighting for survival. But here’s what that trial taught me: I am far stronger than I ever imagined.

Born and raised in the heart of the Midwest, I grew up learning early about resilience. After losing my father at 12 and navigating teenage motherhood, I refused to let hardship define me. I earned my degrees, became a teacher, and poured my heart into empowering students—until my body forced me to pause.

When the stroke struck, doctors weren’t sure I’d survive. For three days, I lay trapped in a swollen brain, unable to speak or move. Rehabilitation felt like climbing a mountain: relearning to walk, talk, and even hold a spoon with one hand. But through faith, family, and sheer grit, I discovered a truth: brokenness is not weakness—it’s where courage begins.
Today, I’m still a teacher—just in a different classroom. My blog, *Emily Unbroken*, is where I share raw stories of recovery, practical tips for adapting to life’s curveballs, and the faith that carried me through darkness. I’ve learned to drive again, regained my voice (though it sounds a little different now!), and found purpose in advocating for stroke survivors.

My journey isn’t about “overcoming.” It’s about rebuilding—with humor, honesty, and a stubborn belief that every setback is a setup for a comeback. My husband, two incredible kids, and my unshakable faith in God remind me daily: I am not alone, and neither are you.

Why I Share My Story:
– To remind you that strength often hides in places we least expect.
– To connect with fellow survivors and caregivers who feel unheard.
– To prove that even when life knocks you down, you can rise—changed, but unbroken.

Join me here as we rewrite what it means to thrive after adversity. Together, let’s turn survival into something beautiful.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.

P.S. If you’re facing your own battle—medical, emotional, or spiritual—know this: You’re capable of more than you think. Let’s walk this path together.
